Kinesiology

Our kinesiologists are here for your individual exercise needs.

Registered Kinesiologists have an extensive knowledge of human movement!

They use their expertise in working alongside providers to assist with the rehabilitation of patients.

Our Kinesiologists help to prevent and manage injuries, restore movement, reduce pain, build strength and correct imbalances in the body through exercise prescription and with the use of modalities (IFC/ultrasound/TENS).

Upon full recovery of an injury, your Kinesiologist will guide you in strength and conditioning to help achieve optimal health, performance, and function to achieve balance within the body and prevent further injuries from occurring.

Kinesiology Assessment

An assessment with a Kinesiologist focuses on your body's ability to move and function at its optimal level. During the assessment the Kinesiologist will assess your overall health, identify the areas of dysfunction and provide the exercises needed to help you!

Soft Tissue Release Treatment

Soft tissue release is a hands on treatment that is used to assess and treat the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the body.  During the treatment the muscle is actively or passively stretched throughout the technique. Soft tissue release works by breaking down muscle adhesions and ultimately improving blood flow to the area to re-establish optimal length, resilience and function of the muscle.

Functional Movement Screening

Functional Movement Screen

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is designed to assess movement patterns, identify limitations, and predict potential injury risks. FMS is a valuable tool used by healthcare and fitness professionals to optimize physical performance and prevent injuries.

What is FMS?
The functional movement screen (FMS) is used to evaluate movement patterns and find asymmetries in individuals. During an FMS evaluation a series of seven fundamental movement patterns are assessed. Each movement is scored based on specific criteria which helps to pinpoint the individual's areas of weakness, instability or asymmetry. With the final scoring from the evaluation targeted corrective exercises can then be given to improve movement quality and reduce their risk of injury.

Benefits of FMS:

  1. Injury prevention
Identifying movement deficiencies and addressing them early helps reduce the risk of injuries during physical activity.

  2. Performance optimization
Improved movement quality leads to better performance in sports, exercise and daily activities.

  3. Customize your training program
The results of your FMS assessment guides the development of personalized exercise programs tailored to individual needs, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.

  4. Objective baseline
Provides an objective baseline for assessing movement patterns, allowing for progress tracking over time.

  5. Cost-effective
Early identification and correction of movement dysfunctions can potentially save on healthcare costs associated with treating injuries.

The functional movement screen is a powerful tool for assessing movement quality, identifying limitations, and minimizing injury risks. Whether you're an athlete, fitness enthusiast or just wanting to see where your movement pattern weaknesses are an FMS assessment will enhance your performance, reduce injuries and promote long-term physical well-being.
